How a leading food & beverage distributor enhanced its logistics with Uniquon’s connected mobility solution

DAC, a foremost distributor in the food & beverage sector across HoReCa and catering, entrusted Uniquon with delivering a robust digital solution. DAC Group is an international company specialising in the distribution of food and non-food products for the Ho.Re.Ca. sector, and is part of the multinational Bidcorp group. With its European base and subsidiaries such as DAC Group Europe in London, it exports to over 58 countries and operates across 35 global markets through an integrated network. It offers a portfolio of more than 25,000 products and tailored services for hotels, restaurants, and institutions. Its logistical strength and global outlook make it a strategic partner in the international foodservice industry. With its fleet of 400+ vehicles—including specialist units for hard‑to‑reach areas—handles 690,000 deliveries annually.
To remain agile and cost‑effective, DAC faced the task of improving load optimisation and route planning for its diverse product range—ranging from dry goods to fresh and frozen items. Uniquon introduced a connected mobility platform that seamlessly integrates with DAC’s information systems, delivering planning, organisation, tracking, and analytics from order entry to vehicle return.
Seeking a smart, connected mobility solution to elevate your logistics? Contact us to discover how Uniquon can streamline your deliveries.
The Challenge
DAC needed to address two core issues:
Optimising varied cargo loads: Vehicles carried different types of goods—dry, fresh, frozen, gourmet, beverage—requiring precise temperature and volume management.
Efficient route planning: Deliveries spanned public services, traditional catering, hospitality, and across expansive geographies, demanding innovative logistics tools and current operational capabilities.
Ensuring timely, comprehensive delivery meant embracing cutting‑edge logistics solutions and technological tools to achieve operational excellence.
Our Solution
Uniquon deployed a new connected mobility Platform, featuring integrated modules that coordinate every stage of the delivery lifecycle:
Order Management: Customer details, orders, products, and delivery schedules captured in a central repository.
Route & Load Planning: Vehicle dimensions, product compatibility, client opening times, traffic conditions and road closures factored into optimised plans.
Warehouse Loading Prep: Streamlined picking lists and load plans—tailored to freezer, cold‑room, and ambient zones—ready for driver use.
Real‑time Customer & Fleet Tracking: GPS‑enabled navigation interface provides delivery updates, confirmations or cancellations, and supports two‑way messaging between HQ and driver.
Administrative Reporting: Delivery execution—departures, delays, cancellations—captured and made available for analysis and billing.
Data‑Driven Process Analytics: Big‑data processing identifies driver behaviour, fuel usage, delivery issues, and unprofitable routes for continuous optimisation.
Implementation Approach
Our collaboration unfolded in four carefully orchestrated phases:
Discovery & Requirements Mapping: Full audit of DAC’s delivery workflows, fleet characteristics, client time windows, and product handling needs.
Pilot & Prototyping: Launch of a minimal viable product featuring order handling, route planning, and live navigation dashboards.
Full‑Scale Launch: Roll‑out of all modules—warehouse integration, real‑time tracking, planning interface, analytics dashboard—with secure, role‑based access.
Training & Support: Comprehensive onboarding for logistics staff and drivers, complemented by ongoing assistance and documentation.
What This Means for You
By combining integrated planning tools, real‑time tracking, driver assistance, and analytics, DAC achieved:
Greater fleet efficiency and cost control
Enhanced customer satisfaction and delivery reliability
