How Uniquon enabled a last-mile logistics leader to synchronise vehicles, teams and infrastructure through a connected mobility platform

Connected Mobility for Operational Excellence: When Fleets, People and Industrial Assets Operate as One

In the high-speed world of urban logistics, every delay has a cost. A major private operator in parcel delivery and retail distribution turned to Uniquon to address an increasingly complex challenge: how to ensure that vehicles, human teams and operational infrastructure—such as loading docks, automated gates, and warehouse systems—move in sync.

The company’s ambition was clear: evolve from a reactive fleet management model to a connected mobility ecosystem, where machines, drivers and industrial IoT systems interact in real time to optimise speed, safety and efficiency.

The Challenge

Operating a fleet of electric vans, cargo scooters and warehouse shuttles across multi-site industrial hubs, the client was facing disjointed coordination between its physical assets and digital workflows.

Delivery vans would queue at loading bays unaware of internal warehouse readiness. Drivers often wasted time locating the correct docking point or waiting for clearance from local gate systems. Meanwhile, warehouse operators had little visibility on ETA forecasts, vehicle conditions or real-time route shifts.

The result? Idle time, increased energy consumption, and under-utilised infrastructure—all translating into operational drag and customer dissatisfaction.

Our Solution

Uniquon delivered a fully integrated Connected Mobility Control Platform, linking three operational layers through a secure and intelligent orchestration framework:

  • Fleet Synchronisation Each vehicle—from last-mile vans to in-yard shuttles—was equipped with telematics and edge sensors, creating a digital twin that tracked not only geolocation, but vehicle health, cargo status and destination-specific instructions.

  • Human Operations Through handheld devices and mobile apps, drivers and warehouse teams received real-time directives, alerts and access permissions—tailored dynamically based on location, schedule and priority.

  • Smart Infrastructure Integration Automated gates, robotic picking systems, smart lockers and docking bays were connected to the same orchestration engine. This enabled real-time alignment between vehicle arrival, slot availability and cargo readiness.

The result was a continuous, frictionless flow: vehicles arrived when needed, bays were pre-assigned, cargo was pre-loaded, and human teams operated with situational clarity—without wasting a second.

Implementation Strategy

We adopted a lean and rapid approach:

  1. Digital Mapping Complete digital mapping of vehicle routes, warehouse access points, and dock configurations across two strategic logistics hubs.

  2. Device Layer Setup Installation of vehicle telematics, BLE sensors and industrial IoT nodes, ensuring interoperability with existing warehouse equipment.

  3. Pilot Deployment Within six weeks, the system went live with 120 vehicles and 40 infrastructure endpoints. Real-world tests validated system resilience, user adoption and energy savings.

  4. Scalable Expansion After a successful rollout, the platform was extended to four additional hubs, with modular APIs supporting integration with TMS (Transport Management Systems) and WMS (Warehouse Management Systems).

The Results

The connected mobility environment generated measurable impact:

  • 25% reduction in loading/unloading turnaround times

  • -18% vehicle idle time, leading to lower energy usage and battery degradation

  • +30% increase in bay utilisation efficiency

  • Greater driver satisfaction, thanks to clearer navigation, fewer wait times and reduced stress

More importantly, the client transitioned from a fragmented operational model to a synchronised mobility intelligence network—turning data into precision and movement into value.

Why Uniquon

At Uniquon, we design mobility systems that think, anticipate and adapt—across vehicles, people and physical infrastructure.

Our platforms go beyond tracking: they coordinate, empower and orchestrate operations in real time. Whether you're managing a logistics network, a private fleet or a high-density industrial site, we bring clarity to complexity and intelligence to motion.
